Jayne has been a student of the practice of Iyengar yoga for over 35 years, teaching for 20 of those years. She has studied with many senior Iyengar teachers throughout India, Canada and the United States. Her philosophy of teaching encourages a student to feel the actions of the asanas through exploration and repetition. Yoga is an experience of the body, mind and breath, a practice that can help the individual to fall in love with their bodies once again.
Laurie has practiced Iyengar yoga since 1994 and began teaching this method in 2000. Her recent move to Vancouver Island was blessed with an opportunity to bring her teaching experience from 3 previously owned and managed yoga studios in Winnipeg and Salmon Arm to Moment Yoga in Sooke!. She views Iyengar yoga as an immeasurable gift to anyone who chooses to explore it. Her teaching style strives to reflect the vastness of this practice for the body, mind and spirit so that each student might experience a greater lightness of being and deeper appreciation of the wisdom within. She holds Level 1 Certification.
Brandy’s teaching style focuses on sharing her knowledge with clarity and lightheartedness.
Moment Yoga follows the Iyengar methodology, teaching the asanas (postures) clearly and deliberately, to enable students to develop an intelligent way of working with their own body and mind. Brandy demonstrates poses, and takes time to observe and assist the students, deepening and correcting their postures. The focus is directed in developing the student's awareness and attention through correct alignment, effective timing and holding of postures, and effective sequencing to bring harmony to both the physical body and mental state. As students deepen their practice, pranayama (breathwork) techniques are also taught.
